Nominator's project description
| Professor Jimenez-Barbero is an international authority in the study of glycan molecular recognition. Major contributions include his systematic studies on the interactions of carbohydrates with their receptor proteins, especially with human immune lectins. He has developed a general NMR methodology to unravel key features of the mechanisms that govern interactions involving sugars and proteins at the atomic and molecular perspective. During his stay in Germany, he will integrate his NMR investigations in a multidisciplinary approach, including chemical synthesis, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, biophysics, and molecular modeling. |
